Get the Most from your Insurance Company

May 19th, 2010 by Admin

Choosing the right insurance policy doesn’t immediately mean finding the cheapest possible cover. For many it is the process of finding the most beneficial policy protection at the most affordable rate. Such is the case for just about any purpose; you can often find the best quotes with insurance companies that specialise in niche areas.

For example if you are a landlord and wish to find a policy that meets your requirements and one that is also cost effective, then you may need to seek the advice of a specialist landlords insurance provider such as letprotector.co.uk. You may not always choose the cheapest option but the most beneficial one that caters to your needs perfectly.

If you, on the other hand, need to find insurance for your burger van, then going through one of the high street insurers may not offer a policy that offers the same amount of protective cover than say the experts over at caternsure.co.uk. The general consensus is that by choosing specialist insurance companies for certain policies such as trailer insurance, boat insurance, life insurance and many more will often generate lower premiums and better offers.

Why do I need Business Insurance?

October 27th, 2009 by Admin

If you run a business or any sort, you’ll most likely need insurance of some kind. Business insurance comes in three main kinds:

Public liability insurance. Public liability insurance covers you should someone make a claim against you after injury or damage to property. Claims could also be made against you away from your property as well if you’re making a sales call or visiting a building site. Many business clients will want to see a copy of your public liability insurance before they work with you, especially local authorities.

Product liability insurance. Product liability insurance is a must for anyone selling products to the general public. If somebody is hurt or suffers a loss due to your product then you are liable and they may well make a claim against you.

Employers liability insurance. If you employe staff, you’re responsible for the health and safety of your employees and if something happens to you while they’re at work which they believe is your fault, they may make a claim against you. The Employers Liability (Compulsory Insurance) Act 1969 (ELCA) means it’s compulsory to have £5 million worth of cover, and more is advisable.

Why do i need insurance and why are there so many different insurers?

March 10th, 2009 by Admin

If you have your own business and employees, run a car or rent out houses, it is a legal requirement that you have, at least, a basic minimum insurance policy. Many people, however, decide on an advanced insurance policy to cover themselves just in case anything out of the ordinary happens. It is pointless to purchase a minimum insurance policy if it does not offer you the exact level of cover you require. Different insurance companies target different areas of the market. For example, one car insurance company may target young drivers with less driving experience, whereas another will target older, more experienced drivers with no claims bonuses. That way, the competition between companies isn’t as fierce and although it is still extremely competitive,  it works in the insurers favour to target just a section of the market rather than trying to compete with everyone on every risk.

What types of insurance companies are there?

January 27th, 2009 by Admin

Some people overlook the fact that there are 2 different types of insurance agent and 2 different types of insurance company. There is the insurance company who will sell an insurance policy directly to you and there is the insurance company who will sell insurance policies via agents. There are also 2 different types of insurance agent: there are the agents who stand for just 1 insurance company and there are the agents who will represent a number of insurance companies. What is important is the amount of professional assurance and personal ease you feel with the insurance agent or company.

What things should I be looking for in an insurance company/agent?

January 27th, 2009 by Admin

Insurance companies and insurance agents are there for your convenience and to put your mind at ease. At the very least, an insurance company representative or insurance agent should have the ability to answer any queries you might have with regards to insurance, they should be able to supply you with a thorough estimation of your insurance requirements, and last but not least, they should be able to offer you a variation of insurance policies to meet your individual needs. Any insurance company or insurance agency should give you a quick, high standard service should you be unfortunate enough to make a claim.

Trailer Insurance

December 2nd, 2008 by Admin

Trailer insurance schemes cover all trailers attachable to your car, such as, horseboxes, a box, flatbed, transport or tipping trailers. The one type of trailer that is difficult to insure are advertisement hoardings. It is a requirement under trailer insurance guidelines that you have an approved security device for your trailer. Also required is a copy of the receipt you obtained when purchasing you trailer. Unlike car insurance, that will cover your trailer for third party risks only, but not cover your trailer if it is damaged in an accident, any accident where the trailer is detached from your towing vehicle and as well as loss (theft) where as trailer insurance covers you for all these scenarios.

Landlords Insurance

December 2nd, 2008 by Admin

Life can be hard enough when you’re a landlord, as you may know. When you are about to go through the motions of getting a Landlords Insurance they will ask you to pay a sum for the Buildings insured. This should not be confused with the market value of the property. It is also vital that you do not misjudge your Buildings Sum Insured because it comes to putting a claim in, the insurers will lower the amount they pay out instead of the amount you have underestimated. The total sum of buildings cover should reflect the whole amount of having your let property re-built. We can insure your property, even if it is let by DSS or Students. Basically, we can supply cover for all kinds of tenants, although some of them are often knocked back by other insurance providers. Unlike some other providers, we will let you insure your contents. Basic Landlords Insurance provides a contents only option. Please note that your normal policy, which you have for your home contents, will not cover your rented property. A popular insurance policy may not pay when the property is being used to make an income e.g. when you’re letting the property to tenants. Also Landlords Insurance gives additional cover like Loss of Rent and Landlords Liability, which you would not get through regular home insurance policies. To ensure you are fully protected, it is the best option that to purchase a Landlord’s policy which will be specially designed for these scenarios.
